I spoke with a representative from BYU-I’s office of general counsel (ie: their lawyer). He advised me that BYU-I has set aside funds to assist students who are experiencing financial hardship. This broadly applies to any hardship, and includes Spring 2020 rent issues.
I have had one client inform me that she was able to obtain a grant to resolve the issues with her landlord.
If you believe this housing situation has created a hardship for you, I am encouraging people to contact the financial aid office to see if the university can provide assistance to you on terms that you feel comfortable with.
