An Idaho Contractor must be licensed.. A contractor must register with the Contractors License Board. The board ensures that contractors meet certain state requirements. It is not lawful for a person to engage in construction services without a license.
Insurance. A contractor must obtain insurance. This protects you in the event your home is damaged during the course of construction or if someone is injured during the construction.
Bonds. Bonds protect home owners from a contractor’s failure to perform or to pay subcontractors or laborers. However, Idaho does not require such a bond. Home owners must ask for a bond. If it is a significant project, it is a good idea to request a bond.
